Now, in a ten-year project Lucas is creating three prequels which explain how we arrived at the point where we first met Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and the ageing Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi. At the centre of Episode 1, is the young Anakin Skywalker, a child of enormous charm and promise, whose destiny is as yet undefined. Surrounding Anakin in The Phantom Menace are heroic figures from a mythical age and weird and wonderful creatures which have always been a popular feature of the Star Wars series.
